Bones

I take a lot of photographs of people’s sheds and shacks, the more dilapidated the better. I came across this one in a remote Cheshire village. Dominating the large garden, it is a shed of sheds – a multi-functional structure – storage, den, football goal, constructed out of all sorts of bits and pieces and on the verge of crumbling to the ground. It does seem like a possible metaphor, re-constructed from earlier buildings, whatever that ‘means’ – I attribute some significance to it. It is my job to somehow persuade the viewer to contemplate at some length what I have presented and for it to possibly have some resonance for them, perhaps reminding them of childhood dens.
